This may be a bit of a moot point (my thought or the article...one of the two), but wouldn't an atheist speaker be unfitting in an interfaith service? Atheists aren't exactly INTERfaith, they're apart from it completely. That wouldn't "easily include atheists," would it?

Did anyone else find themselves groaning after the Einstein quote mine and the self insertions of author's own opinion into the mouths of unnamed scientists?

Pot, meet kettle. Seems like the author isn't terribly tolerent as well.

Religion was important in building many institutions. We are moving past that point though. Most universities are relatively secular, as well as hospitals and charities. People of all creeds are encouraged to help one another...not because god said so, but because we are all human beings and we all benefit when we help each other out. It makes me wonder what the problem is if we feel like we have to have a god to give some people the motivation to do such things.

"Hitler imagined a world without Jews. The Freedom From Religion Foundation rented a billboard near the Colorado Convention Center that says: “Imagine No Religion.”"

Yes! They compared us to Hitler! Awesome, that instantly makes this whole thing trash. Way to go, Gazette. Keep it classy.

Two words: straw man. There's no need to even read the whole thing when you understand that.
