I wonder if this Pastor realizes that Shakespeare helped write the “One True Word Of God” version, the good old “King James”? Or that Hitler also enjoyed a good book burning?

Burning books makes me sick. You don’t hear of atheists calling to have all bibles burned.

That’s because most atheists think it’s up to the individual to take into account all of the information available and make a decision based on that.

Is that evil?

What about making sure that the blinkers are always kept on? “Don’t read Harry Potter, it’s evil”, “Don’t read anything by Richard Dawkins, he’s doing the Devil’s work”. I know who I’d rather steer clear of.

Surely a TRUE believer wouldn’t fear any challenges to their faith. Wasn’t Jesus tempted by the Devil and didn’t he come back stronger for having being tested? If there are Christians who don’t follow his example in this way (rather than making token efforts to give up cake or something) should they even bother celebrating lent at all?

Year of publication: 1611.

“Original” version of the Bible
Year of publication: gathered over the first hundred years after Christ. So let’s give a terribly late estimate of 500 AD.

Which biography would you trust? One written about you 5 years after you died, by people who knew you or knew your friends? Or one written 50 years after you died, written by people who never met you or anyone you knew?

Not that I necessarily wanna trust either of them… But just look at it from that point of view.
