I think this is some kind of humor based on the flawed logic of Pascal’s wager. Interestingly, when I read it, I translated as “I hope for your sake you’re right and there are no gods, otherwise you’re screwed!”
I dunno, I took it as they were so uninformed that they didn’t know what else to say. Not surprising, really. In one sense, kinda sweet that they tried to include someone they knew next to nothing about.
Well, believing in luck is just as senseless as believing in god, but nice effort, I agree in saying “thanks.”
As much fun as we can have with this it is unfortunately quite obvious that it is sarcasm used to make a threat seem funny to their parishioners.
