Well, at least his gibberish is emphatic. Makes as much sense as the Buybull to boot.

Oh, shit! This guy speaks gibberish to an invisible being in the sky! Maybe we were wrong about gay marriage! (/sarcasm)

Well, at least he’s consistent; his speaking in tongues makes as much sense as his reason for being against gay marriage!

I love how even his fellow “defenders” are waaaaaaay back behind him, except the one guy next to him. Even THEY know that there’s a difference between an opinion (albeit the wrong one) and flat out insanity.

He is trying to ‘speak in tongues’. It is a common perversion of a part of the bible, that if you babble and have faith, that you are speaking some sort of ‘divine’ language. The actually interpretation, is it means speaking in other languages that can be understood by those around you. Such as preaching the gospel to someone in french, if they understand french.

On another point “If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership… . Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships.”
    -Elton John
    Um… guess he’s a homophobe too?

I’ve often stated that I think marriage should stay a religious thing, and that the government should have no hand in any of it.

The only thing the government should be sanctioning is civil unions.

Marriage is silly. It’s possible to live a great life with your partner without having to partake in some dumb religious ritual.

If you want to preach in French, learn French. If you want to preach in Spanish, learn Spanish. “Speaking in tongues” is babbling random noises.
Elton John was not homophobic, he was trying to find a solution.

Your misunderstanding what i mean by the actual meaning of speaking in tongues, it means, that through divine inspiration you would be given the ability to speak to someone in their own language without prior knowledge of how to speak that language. There are those that have preversed this idea into speaking in some ‘divine language’ that is nothing more than babbling. I believe the exact name for it is Glossolalia, though I might have spelt that wrong.

With the quote by Elton John that was in response to the ‘makes as much sense as his reason for being against gay marriage’ by Fred. Most people dont realise there are many in the gay community that believe marriage should be for heterosexual relationships and as a religious device for seperation of church and state.

But Andre you are probably right the homophobe line was probably out of line, and I do appologise for that. Was partially sleep deprived when I wrote that, should have waited to vet it after I slept before I posted it.

I understood what you meant, I’m just commenting that it’s stupid to speak in tongues and expect to speak someone else’s language, when it’s just so easy to learn a new language.
